Lost film

Wow; Amanda Palmer
I just had a call from the photo processing centre saying they have received my envelope and order form, but the film had fallen out :( That was a 36 exp roll taken on my Fisheye at Eurocks, those are the only photos I took at the festival. I'm very annoyed. If only I had put them in a padded envelope, or taped the back up like I was planning to. The film cost me about 6 euros too. Grr.

I'm confirmed for a photopass for the Enemy tonight, but Lily Allen tomorrow is full which is good because I can mooch around London with Laeti instead.

3rd post in a day, look at me go! It's all the gig excitement. I won't get to sleep til about 1am now.

I have chosen Placebo over of Montreal. It was always going to happen. Nikki sounded so excited when I told her on the phone earlier! And Annie said she wants to come Big Chill with me, which is nice as shes not coming to Ibiza with the rest of us. Then if I get any more passes I'll have to just let the others fight over them.

[info]j33_3 is in London right now. She was watching Star Trek earlier on at the Empire. Jealous! I didn't know it was still showing. I may have to convince Nat that she needs to see it again..

Torchwood.. I'm refusing to believe anything until the credits of the last episode have rolled. I had a little cry, but I'm saving myself for tomorrow when I'm hoping everything will be saved.. I ended up not watching Psychoville afterwards which I'm annoyed about now as Mark Gatiss was in it. That will have to be watched tomorrow evening instead.

Joe is going to buy me a Sonic Screwdriver or a Remote-controlled Dalek for my birthday next month. Such a good brother!

I am downloading yet more potentially crap Chris Pine films. I already have Surrender Dorothy, Confessions and Smokin' Aces, and now Blind Dating is torrenting. I might give in and find Princess Diaries 2..

In the last of my random bits of news, I bought a Pogo Polaroid printer today because it was only £25. So that should be arriving next week along with 70 sheets of Zink paper, and I have to think of something good to do with them. Ideas?

Excuse me while I lay down and squee

I've been asked to cover the Big Chill Festival for GigJunkie. I definately have two press/photopasses for it which will let me in exciting backstage places as well as the photopit (and the whole festival for free). Basement Jaxx are playing(!!!) as well as a whole load of smaller bands I love, and then they have awesome comedians too. La Fielding will be there and Tim Minchin too. I'm so excited I might wee! They are working on getting me a few extra tickets, so fingers crossed.

Aaand I've also been asked to cover some of the Somerset house gigs. The Enemy tomorrow, Lily Allen the night after, and a few next week that I can't make. Why does it all come at once?!

Dilemma!

Argh I finally heard back about a photopass for of Montreal on Tuesday and its all good, but I think I've been offered two tickets to the Placebo itunes Roundhouse gig, also on Tuesday. What do I do?! Photograph of Montreal or enjoy seeing Placebo with Nik. Argh. Argh.

Did I mention yesterday that I got tickets for both Yeah Yeah Yeahs Brixton gigs? I can't actually log onto livejournal so I can't check. I'm so excited it's probably worth a double post anyway!

Always so many things to do

Eh?; Seth Green
I got back from France last night. It was a lovely week and I'll do a post on it tomorrow night or something.
I've had so much stuff to do since I got back. Bloody work, editing a shit-ton of photos, unpacking, washing, trying to catch up on my recorded tv and remembering to watch Torchwood, sorting out new press passes and writing gig reviews (because I'm damned if I'm going to let those bastards who live miles away from London take all my good gigs). I sent in an application for Press Accreditation for the 1234 Shoreditch Festival, and they sent me back an email with info and images of the festival to use in an introductory piece. So that should mean I'll get accepted right? It seems a bit mean to let me write an introductory piece on the festival and then deny me.. fingers crossed again. I also emailed about a photopass for of Montreal next week but no response yet.

I wrote a piece for the blog about foreign festivals and why I love Eurocks so much: http://www.gigjunkie.net/Blog/post/2009/07/08/The-Joys-of-Foreign-Festivals.aspx
Go check it out and comment or sign up or something. Make it look like my writing is useful.

I should probably go to sleep, but theres about 3 pages of fics for me to catch up on. I don't want it to get any bigger!

Have some photos of the Camden Crawl, which my mum only found and uploaded last week.

The doors didnt open til about 8.30 so i had to queue for a while, the support act was an annoying beatboxer and it was so sweaty in there, but it all ended up good! I saw my mum for about an hour when she got back from glasto and she had a good time. She watched bruce springsteen instead of franz though! Silly woman. Shes a yeah yeah yeahs convert now.

Holidays tomorrow! Thats all that is getting me through today..

I am so going to London Comicon this year. Both Paul McGann and Tom Baker are there! I'll have to convince Hannah and Kat to come. I don't think I have time to sort out a costume though, shame.

I've found a new way baby

I'm watching Franz Ferdinand from Glastonbury last night, and it's making me so jealous that I'm not there. I'd love to go one year. Instead I'm in Romford with my boring dog for company.

My friends came round yesterday and I cooked them a curry, and then we went to Tesco for booze shopping and ended up buying lots of clothes! I got some grey leopard print leggings, a black and grey stripey dress top thing and some black wedges. Then we bought £40 worth of boozes and some nibbles. It was a fun night and we took lots of dodgy photos, and went to sleep at about 4:30am. I woke up too early and went to walk the dog, so I feel really tired now. But I have lots of cleaning and washing to do tonight so I probably won't get to sleep until about 8 or 9.

I found out on Friday that the Does It Offend You Yeah gig that got cancelled has been rescheduled for tomorrow, so I'm going to that after work. They have the Grammatics supporting (Owen from Colour of Fire is in them) which should be good. Then Tuesday is holiday day! I need to go and get my euros tomorrow, and I'm already checked in online and have my train tickets so I should be set.

I also found out that the Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster are doing an instore at Pure Groove on the afternoon of the 15th July. So I think I might take the day off work, go watch them and then go join the queue for NIN at the O2. Sounds like a plan, yes?

Giggity gigs yay!

He's dead, Jim.

..made me laugh anyway..

Went to see Bloc Party tonight at the Garage (600 capacity) and it was awesome fun but very sweaty. I danced my tits off and now I have blisters on my feets. Then the trains home were very amusing due to everyone speculating whether Michael Jackson was actually dead, in a coma, just in hospital or totally fine. I checked twitter and it didn't really help!

Nik came round yesterday and I cooked her pizza, we attempted to walk the dog and then we ate popcorn while watching music videos. I had bought her the special edition Battle For the Sun which got her excited so we watched the documentary. She thinks New Steve is all cute and excitable too!

Alcohol and tortillas

Hello; League of Gentlemen
I just went to Tescos and almost bought more Star Trek figures because they had McCoy in stock. But there was only 5 minutes until the shop closed and I couldn't be bothered to find someone to see if it was still a buy one get one free promotion. Maybe tomorrow. I did get a fathers day card (lol late), alcohol and tortillas because I'm dying Nikkis hair tonight, so I figured we'd get drunk in the process! Then we are meeting Nat at the Bitter End and I think I will be stumbling home at about 1am.

I had to laugh at my mum packing for Glastonbury earlier today, shes taking so much crap. A suitcase full of clothes, heavy tent, two camping chairs, inflatable bed and double sleeping bag, gas stove, cooking crap, a bucket, loads of cleaning things and toiletries. I feel sorry for Jim, he'll be the one carrying it all!

Did anyone watch Psychoville on Thursday? Thoughts? I really enjoyed it. It's not the League, but it will do for now.

My week of not catching up on my lost sleep finally .. caught up.. with me. I fell asleep at about 7pm yesterday while listening to my ipod and woke up about half an hour ago, still in my work clothes. And my ipod is down the side of the bed. Bugger. Can't get back to sleep because my neighbours are having some kind of loud party so I figured I'd write down my fucked dream while I remember it and read some fic until I get tired again!

A wrong dream starring Placebo and Zombies )

Edit: 6:30: Still awake. I should do all my downloading early in the morning, 1.3MB/s yes please! That's lightning quick for Virgin Media.

Photopass fun!

I have a photopass for Kasabian at Brixton Academy on 17th July! Technically its for the support act, The Hours, but a photopass doesn't restrict you to just one band right? I'm so excited! I think I'll buy the prime lens I had my eye on last week, it's only a cheapy one but it should be better than my kit lens. I've not heard back about the Noisettes yet so I'll pester them again tomorrow and I think I'm going to ask about the New Found Glory gig in August too. Yay gig photography!

Edit: Got a Noisettes one for next Tuesday at Koko :D

I wish it was Friday

So I'm back to updating by email during the day. Work have blocked all my fun sites again. It's very annoying that they block them for a few months, then unblock them for a few months, then block them again. At least if they made up their mind I could get used to it either way.

Last night my plan to sleep early failed as I got caught up watching the end of Heroes season 2 (Laeti texted me at the same time to say she was watching season 1, great minds!). I had to turn off the last ep 10 mins in as I couldn't keep my eyes open, but it was still gone 11. Fail.

I paid my tax return cheque into the bank and went for a walk around the park at lunchtime today and because it was so windy my eyes were streaming. Now they are red and sore and I would like to sleep on my desk. I checked the balance on my laptop fund though and I've only got £135 to pay now! I'll try and put aside extra money in the next few weeks to get it all paid off, then I can start work on my many overdrafts..

God so tired

Sleep; Black Books
I went to see Star Trek again yesterday with a bunch of people from [info]ontd_startrek, it was good fun and we did some glittery colouring in in Leicester Square, ate many cookies and took photos with as much lensflare as possible. I had pick 'n' mix at the cinema which made me a bit hyper so I couldn't get to sleep when I got home, so I was sofuckingtired the whole of today. Work was busy though, I had a new report to get my head around and they have given me my own mobile to take updates from the engineers. I'm gonna play the Sims for a little bit and then sleeeeep.

I finally got my tax refund cheque through the post, £500! Thats going straight into paying my Macbook off so I've only got £160 left to pay. Awesomes. I failed on attempting to save money this week though. I bought another Tatty necklace (the black music note one) and two tickets to see Bloc Party at the Garage next week. I'm taking Joe as a treat for passing his first year of college.

My mum goes to Glastonbury next Wednesday so we've got the house to ourselves for 5 days. Nikki has a few days off work so she's coming to live with us and she's promised to have dinner on the table for when I get back from work like a proper housewife! We'll have to get a lot of booze in as well. It will be fun!

Here is my new hair (and a cookie). I have loads of random pics from the last few months laying about my flickr and facebook, I think I'll do a photo catchup post tomorrow.

Edit: My mum just asked me if she should go see the Yeah Yeah Yeahs at Glasto. So my 4 years of constantly ranting about how awesome Karen O is has not made up her mind?

Reading!

Rock; Tim Minchin
The dance tent lineup has finally been revealed and I'm so glad there's no-one I like headlining, so I can watch all of Radiohead and not have horrific clashes. I was half worried they would pull out someone like Soulwax and then I'd die having to choose. But they have MSTRKRFT and Das Pop during the day so that is good! And I'm sure someone recommended the Quemists to me so I might check them out too if I'm free. Faith No More have finally been revealed as the NME Friday headliner now that Download has passed, but I think I'll be watching Tim Minchin instead. I would like it to be August now plz.

Urgh

Bored; Mighty Boosh
I think my brain is melting, I'm so bored and tired. Only 25 mins left of work, hooray!

I got tickets for me and Nat to see Harry Potter at the IMAX the day after release. We would have gone on the 15th but I'm going to see Nine Inch Nails and that can't be cancelled for Harry Potter. We're very excited anyway! I hope there are some 3D bits, that would be fun.

I had my hair cut at the weekend, so its now a nice short bob again. I'd forgotten how annoying having a fringe is though, its only been two days and its pissing me off already! I dyed it yesterday too and left the dye on for ages so it's really dark pink/purple now. At least I won't have to dye it again for a good while.

This week I am attempting to get back on my diet and save money for my holidays. Wish me luck!

Boring boring

Clever; Pinto
Back on the call centre today because Anton isn't in to show me which reports he wants me to do. Boring boring boring. I think I might do an overhaul of my icons tonight. There will also be copious Sims playing and possibly catching up on the last two eps of Dollhouse. I think I might make an appointment to get my hair cut too as its getting too long and I've ordered some more hair dye.

The one good aspect of being on the call centre is I can browse the internet at length inbetween calls and emails, so I have been reading lots of fics this afternoon in the quiet periods! God I'm always so bored at work.

Coincidental

More popular than jesus; Placebo
I was just watching the Placebo 4Music thing that my mum recorded for me, when my neighbour knocked on the door to give me my uber boxset! A very nice coincidence! I also saw the Bunny and the Bull trailer finally, and it looks awesome and I have to see it.

Going to go watch the documentary and live DVD now.

Leopards and Demons

Snow Leopard will be so cheap! That pisses all over what Microsoft charge for their OS upgrades. Me = very happy. I'm kind of annoyed the 13" unibody macbook has been upgraded to pro status, with improved specs and dropped in price only a month and a half after I bought mine though. I wonder how much I could get for mine on ebay, haha.

Last night me and Nik went to see Angels and Demons (she wouldn't watch Star Trek, how mean) and we had lots of fun making silly pope jokes whenever we saw all the cardinals on screen. (Popes on a coach, Pope gossip, POPEFRIEEEEND) It was an ok film, although he finds the clues all so quick and it goes too smoothly. We appreciated the bruised and beaten Ewan at the end though.

Tomorrow I'm being moved onto another department at work. I will be the report monkey for the Catering department (and in the future Bakery and Refrigeration). It's not very exciting at first, just updating all the reports, but in the future they want me to analyse all their processes and use access and excel macros to make it all quicker and more efficient. It's vaguely IT related and a change from answering calls from people at KFCs that don't speak english.

I finally finished watching Heroes season 1 last night, and the main plot at the end was the people in charge wanted to let New York blow up so America could unite in grief and hope. Um, Watchmen plot much? I enjoyed it though, so I downloaded the second season last night. I have been warned that it pretty much goes downhill from now on, but I might as well watch it all. If only Joe had kept all the episodes he downloaded at the beginning of the year.

Speaking of Joe, I came home from work yesterday and he had put my Kirk and Spock figures in a bumming position on my desk. I hadn't even done that yet! The boy is a bigger perve than me, clearly!
